About

Matthew Cliff

I grew up in a town just outside of Liverpool in the North West of England. Driven by a deep passion for theology and ministry, I pursued my theological education at the London School of Theology, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (BA) and then a Master’s Degree in Theological Research (Mth). While completing my postgraduate studies, I also served as the senior pastor of a Baptist church just outside of London.

During my time in London, I met my wife Melanie, who is originally from Ipswich, Queensland. In September 2022, we relocated to Australia, where we now live on the Gold Coast with our two young sons.

Professionally, I am the CEO of one of Australia’s largest Pro-Life organisations, where I lead strategic initiatives to advocate for life-affirming policies and educating for cultural change. I am also a visiting lecturer at the Brisbane School of Theology, contributing to the formation of future Christian leaders. Additionally, I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen, focusing my research on theological and ethical issues with a specific focus on the issue of abortion. Studying part-time, I passed my Confirmation (Aus) / Progress Review (UK) in September 2024 and I am now on course for completion.

My specific theological interests include Christian Ethics, Christian Worldview, Apologetics, Theological Method, and Evangelical Theology. These areas underpin my heart for equipping future Church leaders to navigate theological and ethical complexity with clarity, courage and conviction.
